The group

The world Riunite & Civ

ico-grapes

In 1950 a group of 9 wine producers from the Province of Reggio Emilia set up Cantine Cooperative Riunite. Eleven years later, 4 wineries from the Province of Modena followed their lead and founded Consorzio Interprovinciale Vini (CIV).

The two organizations grew thanks to cooperation between their members. Come the 21st Century they realised that only by merging they would have been able to offer increasingly comprehensive and effective responses to the demands of the global market. Thus, in September 2008 Cantine Riunite & CIV was founded, becoming the hub of Lambrusco production and one of Italy’s leading wine companies.

Another important chapter was written in 2002, when Cantine Riunite bought CANTINE MASCHIO, thus consolidating its position as leading sparkling wine company.

Mission

ico-plane

To promote a healthy cooperation in order to achieve the best possible results with the grapes contributed by its members, passing the values and know-how of the wine growing on to the new generation while preserving the natural and environmental surroundings in the production areas.

ico-man

Cantine Riunite & Civ is the heart and history of Emilian winemaking cooperatives.
Underpinning our business are more than 1.700 vine-growers in the Provinces of Modena and Reggio Emilia, who play a key role in our activities and strategic and operational decisions.
Active participation, independence, spirit of cooperation and experience are the values and the intrinsic characteristics of our members, thus guaranteeing the quality of the fruit and of the finished products, productivity and constant care for the consumer, that allow the cooperative to grow

Control of the Entire Product Process

Based on this deep-rooted and precious relationship, environment-friendly production techniques (integrated production methods)
have been developed over the last 10 years that, apart from ensuring constantly high quality standards, drastically reduce chemical treatments in the vineyard, with a markedly positive effect on the countryside as a whole.
But there is also now a general tendency towards total control of the production process, which represents – and will continue to represent to an even greater extent – a real guarantee for the consumer and distributor alike.

Only those companies which are direct producers can guarantee total control of all stages of production, and Cantine Riunite & CIV, through its principal production structures, has already assessed vine growing areas, production systems and vineyards, right down to the individual property, in order to be able to certify this important claim.

Renewable energy

The photovoltaic system installed in 2012 has produced electricity that has been used to a great extent in the Campegine winery. In 2013, the energy produced by these solar panels was 502,340 KW. This production has meant a 327 tonne decrease in CO2 released into the atmosphere.

Cantine Riunite & Civ was among the first companies in Emilia Romagna to produce organic wine, with a first release in 1988.

Certifications

In 1993 Cantine Riunite became the first Italian wine producer to use a wholly certified process, UNI EN ISO 9002.
This certification guarantees that the quality control system is rigorously applied through the careful monitoring of each phase in the production process: from the vineyard to the delivery of the grapes, from vinification and fermentation to the packing and sale of the finished product.

In 2005 we obtained recognition of our conformity to the BRC and IFS standards. Today, all our bottling sites meet the requisite
standards required for large-scale distribution.

Since 2002 we have been working towards certification of our environmental management system in accordance with international standard UNI EN ISO 14001. A number of our sites are registered with environmental management scheme EMAS, and this has led to the construction of a photovoltaic plant with a power capacity equal to 0.5 MWh, capable of covering 30% of the electrical needs of the production site in Campegine.
